Comprehensive Diabetic Eye Evaluation

A detailed diabetic eye assessment may include:

  • Comprehensive vision examination
  • Dilated retinal examination
  • Digital retinal imaging
  • OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography)
  • OCT Angiography (OCTA) where indicated
  • Assessment of the macula and retinal blood vessels
  • Evaluation for diabetic retinopathy and macular edema
  • Glaucoma and optic nerve assessment when required

Important Note

Advanced imaging helps identify retinal changes that may not be apparent from symptoms alone.

Diabetic Eye Conditions We Manage

Comprehensive care for all stages of diabetic disease.

Diabetic Retinopathy

Damage to the retinal blood vessels caused by prolonged diabetes.

Diabetic Macular Edema (DME)

Fluid accumulation in or around the macula that can affect central vision.

Proliferative Diabetic Retinopathy

An advanced stage in which abnormal new blood vessels may develop and potentially threaten vision.

Diabetic Vitreous Haemorrhage

Bleeding into the vitreous cavity that can cause sudden or progressive visual disturbance.

Tractional Retinal Complications

Advanced diabetic disease can cause scar tissue and traction on the retina, sometimes requiring surgical intervention.

Advanced Diabetic Retina Treatment

Treatment depends on the type and severity of retinal disease and may include:

Anti-VEGF Injections

Used in appropriate patients with diabetic macular edema and other retinal vascular complications.

Intravitreal Steroid Therapy

May be considered in selected cases of diabetic macular edema.

Retinal Laser Treatment

Laser photocoagulation may be recommended in specific stages and patterns of diabetic retinopathy.

Vitrectomy Surgery

Advanced cases with complications such as non-clearing vitreous haemorrhage or tractional retinal detachment may require vitreoretinal surgery.
